Previous Next

An E-mail is the acronym for electronic mail, a method of transfering messages using the Internet. An E-mail message is also referred to as an e-mail.All internet user are very femiliar with E-mail.

E-mail Accounts:

Hosting solutions also include the E-mail accounts for each person in your organization . Email addresses should appear like this:

harry@vyom.com

sand123@vyom.com

How does it work?

An E-mail typed into the computer is transferred to an e-mail server. The mail server looks at the addresses of the recipients specified in the e-mail and routes a copy of the message to each of the recipient. The actual transfer uses a protocol called Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). In this protocol, the mail server establishes a connection with the recipient's E-mail server and transfers the message .

Advantages

First of all, it is very simple to use.

Secondly, it is fast. With a lot of people who are using computers and Internet access at home and at office, e-mail has become one of the most commonly used methods of communication.

How to use your email services.

Once you have your own domain name, it is very smart to stop using free email addresses and create your personal email.

The web mail access of your email accounts allow you to open your email at home or at work or from any computer connected to internet.

The POP3/SMTP access allows you to set your email address to work with the convenient email clients such as Outlook express, Mozilla Thunderbird,MS Outlook.

E-mail protocol:

There are three type of protocal used in E-mail.

1. POP3 Protcol

2. IMAP Protocol

3. SMTP protocols

1. POP3 Protcol

What is POP3 protocol.

POP3 (Post Office Protocol version 3) is a standard mail protocol, mostly used to accessing E-mails from the remote server to a local E-mail client. POP3 allows you to download email messages on your local computer and read them even when you are offline.

2. IMAP Protcol

What is IMAP protocol.

The Internet Message Access Protocol is a mail protocol used for recive email on a remote web server from a local client. IMAP and POP3 are the two most commonly used Internet mail protocols for retrieving emails. Both POP and IMAP protocols are supported by all modern email clients and web servers.

3. SMTP Protcol

What is SMTP protocol.

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is the standard protocol. It is used for sending emails across the Internet. SMTP uses TCP port 25 or 2525 and sometimes it create problems to send your messages in case your ISP has closed port 25.

Difference between IMAP and POP3:

The Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3) protocol assumes that there is only one client connected to the mailbox. But in the Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) protocol allows to simultaneous access by multiple clients. IMAP is suitable for all E-mail user if your mailbox is about to be managed by multiple users.
